Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following is a statement from Abigail Ross Hopper, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA)

“SEIA congratulates DC Public Service Commission Chairman Willie Phillips, President Biden’s pick to serve on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). FERC is a key part of our clean energy transformation, and we will need a full commission and a strong leader like Chairman Phillips to realize President Biden’s Build Back Better vision.

“As the voice of independent power producers across America, SEIA is focused on building an equitable clean energy economy, and that starts with wholesale power market reforms that create competition and level the playing field. We are confident that Chairman Phillips will help us put the regulatory reforms in place we need, all while championing equity and creating billions of dollars in economic growth. Chairman Phillips also understands the urgency of this climate moment and the opportunity we have to accelerate the clean energy transition.

“We urge the Senate to quickly confirm DC PSC Chairman Phillips to a seat on FERC. We are in a race against time, and we cannot delay this important pick.”
